Confusion over polling station delays voting in Asante-Akim South

Bompata (Ash), Aug. 7, GNA – Confusion over polling station venue delayed voting by delegates in the historic presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asante-Akim South Constituency for about an hour.

Some of the delegates gathered at Juaso for the ballot while others assembled at Bompata.

Good reason finally prevailed and the misunderstanding amicably resolved to allow the elections to start at Bompata.

The Electoral Commission is supervising the election.

A total of 650 delegates in the constituency are deciding who among the party’s five presidential aspirants, will get the nod to lead the NPP to the 2012 general polls.

Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Mr Isaac Osei, Reverend John Kwame Kodua, Mr John Alan Kyerematen and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are contesting the race for the NPP’s presidential ticket.
