Confusion Brews In Woyome’s Camp

All seems not to be well in the camp of embattled Financier Engineer, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, as his legal team and spokesperson are churning out contradictory opinions over whether he will appear before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament.

Two days after the PAC decided to write to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to cause the arrest of Mr Woyome, his Lawyer, Musah Ahmed revealed that his client has expressed his willingness to appear on a new invitation.

But Special Aide to the embattled businessman, Kwame Tawiah, insists Mr. Woyome will not make an appearance before PAC until the right thing is done.

Chairman of the PAC, Albert Kan Dapaah threatened to cause the arrest of Mr. Woyome over his refusal not to appear before the Committee to answer questions on the GH¢51million judgment debt paid to him.

Speaking however in an interview on Citi FM’s Big Issues, Kwame Tawiah said, “it is on record that we will not go to PAC until they do the right thing because Kan Dapaah doesn’t have the capacity to issue a summon and also doesn’t have the capacity to write a letter to the IGP to arrest anybody.”

According to him, going by the Standing Orders of the committee, and Article 187 of the Constitution subsections 5 and 6, the PAC Chairman has overstepped his authority.

“Mr. Woyome is not afraid to appear before PAC and in fact, it is his wish to appear before them and tell his story to Ghanaians and the rest of the world…he is also not afraid of Kan Dapaah,” Woyome’s aide added.
