Conductor arrested for issuing used tickets

Abuakwa (Ash), May 08, GNA – Inspectors from the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) led by Mr John Manu at the weekend arrested a trainee bus conductor on a Kumasi-Abuakwa bound bus for issuing used and defaced tickets to passengers.

Eyewitnesses including the GNA saw that soon on arrival from Kumasi the inspectors, who apparently acted upon a tip-off, confronted the conductor (name withheld) and seized his bag, waybill and a number of the tickets, which he had started issuing to passengers.

They also retrieved some of the tickets from some of the passengers who had already been served and were still on board the bus. When contacted, a senior official of the traffic department of the MMT, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed that a report had been received.

The official explained that the trainee-conductor, who is on probation, would be sanctioned in accordance with the company’s code of ethics as soon as an official report is submitted to the company.
