Concerned Clergy lauds Mahama’s Israel pilgrimage

The Concerned Clergy Association of Ghana has lauded government’s initiative to send some pastors on a spiritual trip to the holy land of Israel.

According to the Concerned Clergy, the trip is crucial because it would benefit the Pastors and the country.

The Daily Guide newspaper reports that the government is sponsoring the said religious trip with $2 million on some selected religious leaders.

The Catholic Church has however barred all its priests from availing themselves to attend any such trip.

The General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Reverend Fred Deegbe also told XYZ News that they have received an invitation on the trip but the invitation failed to give further details and purpose of the trip.

But the Spokesperson of the group, Bishop Prince Benny Wood, speaking to XYZ News said the government is only helping to get individuals to support the gesture.

According to Bishop Benny Wood, the trip is “crucial and important because if we believe that pastors are doing a good work then any work to encourage and strengthen them is equally good.”

He added that the trip would help “the pastors to be bold and be strong in the Lord”.
