The immediate past National Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), Mr. Isaac Donkoh, has expressed concern over the conduct of some organized labour leaders during recent negotiations with the government.
Speaking in an interview on Kings Royal Breakfast Show with Kroboa Asante, he noted that the negotiations, which began and ended within two weeks, lacked proper coordination and transparency, as some leaders failed to involve all unions before presenting a proposal for a 20 percent increment.
Mr. Isaac Donkoh, has criticized government appointees for living comfortably while ordinary workers continue to struggle. Speaking on Kings Royal Breakfast Show with Kroboa Asante, he stated that when the country faces economic challenges, the burden should not be placed solely on public sector workers, as government officials themselves do not forgo their salaries or privileges.
He added that despite promises not to increase utility tariffs this year, electricity and water rates have gone up by 21 percent, yet workers received only a 10 percent pay rise—an act he described as unfair and deceitful.
