Concern is mounting over delay

…in appointing NDC Chairman for B/A
Concern is mounting in the camp of Brong-Ahafo Region branch of National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the delay in the appointment of a substantive Regional Chairman to replace the late Alhaji Kwadwo Maama Adam.

It is about seven months now since Alhaji Adam died in a motor accident near Suhum and Article 39 (2) of the party’s constitution mandates the National Executive Committee, in consultation with the Regional Executive Committee, to appoint a substantive Regional Chairman.

A survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani among members of the party showed that the death of the former chairman had left a vacuum.

“If the NDC is serious in recapturing the position it enjoyed before the 2000 general election then the authorities should appoint somebody who would devote more time to the activities of the party.”

The Regional Secretariat of the Party in Sunyani is tight-lipped and would not say who are interested in the position, saying the decision to replace the late chairman “will have to come from the REC.”
