Compare NPP with NDC and make your decision

Offinso (Ash), Dec. 24, GNA – Mr Kings Adu-Boahen, Offinso South constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged Ghanaians to critically weigh and compare the governance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with the NDC and make a decisive choice during the 2004 general elections.

He said the complete failure of the NPP government to consolidate the social, economic and democratic values bequeathed to Ghanaians to decide for the credible party to vote for next year.

Mr Adu-Boahen, who was addressing a meeting of NDC supporters, cadres and sympathisers at Offinso on Tuesday, said no amount of vote-buying and other electoral malpractices could retain the NPP in power after the general elections.

“Ghanaians are so disappointed, disillusioned, impoverished, intimidated, over-taxed and drowned in poverty and misery that large number of the numerous unemployed youth have taken to various crimes, including armed robbery for a living”, he said.

Most of the Ghanaian electorate who voted for the NPP government during the last general elections, he said, have deeply regretted and have vowed to vote out the misrule of the NPP during the next general elections.

Mr Adu-Boahen said a reliable survey conducted by the NDC shows massive support and sympathy for the party and cautioned the party faithful against acts that may scare or turn them away.

“You should wholeheartedly and in the spirit of comradeship embrace, accept and retain them for the sake of the country, which is being destroyed by the NPP”, he said.

The chairman, however, warned the NDC faithful against complacency and advised them to rather intensify their campaign to win more supporters for the party.

Mr Joe Louis, the organiser of the party, commended the party supporters for their tolerance and patience in the face of NPP threats, victimisation and intimidation.

He was optimistic that the NDC will regain political power after the 2004 general elections and called on the party members to be vigilant and live in unity.
