Kumasi, April 5, GNA – Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the Kumasi Children’s Hospital, on Tuesday took delivery of 1,000 units of cholera infusion as part of contingency plans to deal with any outbreak of the disease.
Valued at about GH¢5,000.00, these were donated by Intravenous Infusion Limited, manufacturers of pharmaceutical products. The infusion dubbed: 93541 Cholera Infusion” has been acknowledged a potent drug for the treatment of the disease over the years and is manufactured by the company. Mr Richard O. Okrah, the Managing Director, said at the presentation ceremony that this was in response to an appeal made to them by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Mr Isaac Osei. He said he was confident that with the donation, the two health facilities could promptly handle any unexpected outbreak of cholera in the Kumasi metropolis.
Mr Anthony Mensah, Director of Pharmacy, KATH, said they were grateful for the support, adding that, there was already in place adequate measures and logistics to deal with sudden occurrence of the disease. Cholera had already hit parts of the country including Greater Accra, Central, Eastern and Upper West regions.
