Community Vocational Training Centre for Ho-Heve

Ho-Heve, a suburb of Ho, would soon possess a community Vocational Skills Training Centre.

The Trades Learning Centre would give opportunity to residents with interest in dressmaking, carpentry, electrical installation and masonry to acquire employable skills.

Mr Prosper Pi-Bansah, Chairman of the Ho-Heve Multi-purpose complex project, said this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview.

He said the Centre would be housed in the community’s multi-purpose complex.

Mr Pi-Bansah said the initiative is to develop the interest of the younger generation in vocational skills to augment the country’s skilled labour.

He said the GHC450,000.00 self-help project, initiated by the community, would also provide a library facility for students and researchers.

Mr Pi-Bansah said a 500-capacity auditorium would be ready by April next year.

Togbe Kasa III, Dufia of Ho-Heve, said the training of artisans and other skilled workers could help expand the local economy and appealed to natives living in and outside the community to support the project.

The project, started in 2007, is funded through fundraising and monthly contributions from residents of the community with support from Mr Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament for the area.
