Community utilising funeral levies for development

Akyem Asamama, July 9, GNA- The people of Asamama in the Atiwa district are mobilizing funds through the levying of funeral activities in the town to undertake developmental projects.

The amount realized so far had been used to construct a funeral ground, extension of electricity to new settlements in the township and the expansion of the market complex to ease congestion during market days.

This was disclosed by the Assemblyman of the town, Mr Otchere Frimpong in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday at Akyem Asamama.

He said a funeral committee had been set up for the mobilization of the funds and that through this, proper town planning was underway to give the town a facelift, adding that places of convenience were also being rehabilitated.

Mr Frimpong, who is also a Medical Assistant at the Asuom Health Centre commended the citizens for their communal spirit and sense of purpose and called for unity among them to move the town forward.
