Community undertakes electricity project

Coaltar (E/R), June 3, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Dartey, NPP Chairman for Ayesuano Constitutency in the Suhum-Kraboa Coltar District Assembly, on Thursday launched a 50-million Cedi Electricity project in the farming community of Ayibontey, near Coaltar.

The project is scheduled to be completed by December, this year through communal labour and voluntary contribution of 50,000 cedis per male and 30,000 cedis a woman. Non-residents would pay 100,000 cedis flat.

Mr Dartey said poles would be erected and in addition, the Suhum-Kraboa Coaltar District Assembly is expected to assist the community to connect to the national grid.

Mr Dartey said the project wwould help promote the establishment of cottage industries which would encourage the youth to gain employment and save them from migrating to urban centre for non-existent jobs.

Mr Joseph Adu Siaw, Chairman, Electricity Committee of the town, commended the people for their communal spirit and called on them to sustain it.

He appealed to the Assembly for the allocation of some of the MPs Common Fund to speed up work the project.
