Community raises fund for school projects

Donkro-Nkwanta (B/A), Oct. 31, GNA – Residents of Donkro-Nkwanta in the Nkoranza District of Brong-Ahafo Region are mobilising funds to support the renovation exercise being planned by people in the area to rehabilitate the local school buildings, which are in deplorable condition.

The renovation of the schools was to make the environment of the schools conducive for teaching and learning.

Mr. Collins Ofosu, Assemblyman of the area told Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Donkro-Nkwanta that already the resident citizens were paying 20,000 cedis a man and 10,000 cedis a woman while non-residents were also contributing 50,000 cedis a man and 30,000 cedis a woman respectively.

A fund raising rally will be held on Sunday, November 14 in aid of the projects.

School buildings to be renovated under the programme are the Anglican Local Kindergarten, the Local Community Kindergarten and the Anglican Primary School.

According to Mr. Ofosu, the six classroom block of the local Anglican primary school would need a complete rehabilitation as the building is very old and on the verge of collapse.

He commended the people for their unity in initiating the programme aimed at promoting the education of the community and urged them to pay their individual contributions promptly to make the programme a success. On the forthcoming December general elections, the Assemblyman advised the electorate to be self-disciplined and comport themselves before, during and after the elections in order to ensure peace in the community.
