Community raises 20.4 million cedis for project

Abrenkese-Swedru (Ash), March 15, GNA- The chiefs and people of Abrenkese-Swedru in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district on Sunday realised 20.4 million cedis at a fund-raising rally organised in aid of the construction of a Community Centre.

About 5,000 blocks and 10 bundles of roofing sheets had been procured towards the implementation of the project. Mr Atta Addo, the Unit Committee Chairman, said at the function that the people were paying special development levies to ensure speedy completion of the Centre.

He said resident citizens were paying 10,000 cedis a man and 5,000 cedis a woman while non-resident contribute 50,000 cedis and 30,000 cedis for a male and female adult respectively. He asked the people to ensure prompt payment of the levies to enable the project to be completed on schedule.

Nana Owusu Adusei Panin II, chief of the town, called on investors to help establish industries in the area to provide jobs for the youth. Mr Agyenim Boateng, assembly member for the area, told the people to honour their tax obligations to enable the assembly to provide development in the various communities.
