Community organises fund-raising forum

Gomoa-Onyadze (C/R), Jan. 14, GNA – Alhaji Kweku Buabeng, a leading member of the Ahmaddiyyah Islamic Mission, has advised Ghanaians who have been blessed with riches to contribute their quota towards the development of their towns and villages as dictated by divine laws. He said besides helping to increase their blessing in their various fields of endeavour, such contributions portray their commitment, love, patriotism and sense of nationalism to people in their communities and the larger society outside their domain.

Alhaji Buabeng was speaking at an annual fund raising harvest organised by chiefs and opinion leaders of Gomoa-Onyadze to generate funds to complete their electrification project which had been stalled for several years now due to lack of funds.

He regretted that most wealthy Ghanaians feel reluctant to accept invitations to attend fund raising functions because of the financial contributions they would make when they participate in such ceremonies. Alhaji Buabeng reminded such wealthy individuals that this is the opportune time for them to exhibit their love and fellow-feeling towards the less endowed communities and the vulnerable ones in society, adding, “when they die their wealth will not follow them to eternity.”

Nana Kobina Gurah IV, Odzekro of Onyadze, commended his people for their co-operation and uninterrupted communal spirit and advised them to maintain those excellent moral qualities for the rapid development of the area.

Mr Kwame Budu, an opinion leader and Alhaji Issah Badu-Gyan, Chairman of Onyadze projects planning and implementation committee, jointly repeated the community’s appeal to well-wishers of the town, the government and foreign government representatives in the country to come to the aid of the town with funds to help them complete their electrification project on time.

According to the two opinion leaders, completion of the electrification project would inject more impetus in the operation of the Noguchi Memorial Clinic at Onyadze.
