Community launches development plan

Gomoa Asebu (C/R), Jan. 20, GNA – The people of Gomoa Asebu in the Central Region have launched a five-year development plan estimated to cost over half-a-billion cedis.

During the period, chiefs, unit committee and assembly members in the area would lead the inhabitants to construct a community centre, rehabilitate all old school blocks, improve water supply system in the town and complete the new market complex, which is currently under construction.

The launching ceremony coincided with the outdooring of the new Nkosouhene for the town, Nana Ekua Otu-Gyan I,

Speaking at the function, Nana Otu-Gyan reminded female citizens of the town of their responsibility towards national development, particularly with regards to proper up-bringing of children.

To this end, Nana Otu-Gyan charged women in the area to let hard work be their hallmark all the time and also strive to abhor acts, which degrade womanhood.

She stressed the need for female citizens in the community to develop greater interest in communal activities geared towards the improvement of social conditions of the town and also give due respect to traditional authorities so as to enable their children learn good morals from them.

Nana Kojo Bedu, Chief of Asebu renewed his call on the government to device tougher measures to check Fulani headsmen whose cattle have been destroying food crop farms in the area with impunity.

He advised his people to pay their basic and developmental levies in good time to facilitate the implementation of self-help projects the town has initiated.
