Community inaugurates new technical school

Bamiri (B/A) Oct. 15, GNA – A new technical and vocational institute to train graduates of Junior and Senior Secondary schools to become self-employed has been inaugurated at Bamiri in Techiman municipality.

It has 25 fresh students comprising 20 males and five females, pursuing courses in block laying, concreting, electrical installation, dressmaking, needlework, computer studies and carpentry. Mr. Jacob Appiah-Kusi, Principal of the school noted that technical “education is a tool and the key to unlock doors that were closed to people looking for jobs.”

He said the Institute, established this year, would train graduates with low grades to gain employable skills or prepare them to pursue courses at the tertiary level.

Mr. Richard A.D. Zokpoh, administrator of the school, called on parents to register their children who could not gain admission into SSS or tertiary institutions in the school.

Alhaji Kofi Adam, an elder of the town on behalf of Nana Obiri Yeboah Kokroko, chief of the town and Tuntunhene of Techiman traditional area, assured the school authorities of his readiness to allocate two acres of land towards the development of the school.

Nana Nimo Tabiri, ex-Oyokohene of Krobo and a quantity surveyor who presided underscored the importance that must be attached to technical/vocational training and encouraged the pioneer students of the Institute to take their studies seriously.
