Community honours five of its citizens

Jachie (Ash.) March 30 GNA—Five citizens of Jachie in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District have been honoured for display of exceptional communal spirit and contribution to the development of the town.

They are Messrs Kwasi Afriyie, Kofi Mpiani, Dennis Amoah, Madam Ama Serwaah and Madam Akua Afriyie.

Each of them was presented with a parcel containing an undisclosed amount of money and a citation.

Mr Paul Adusei and Miss Doris Otto, the two assembly members of the town, who jointly sponsored the awards, hoped it would inspire other people in the community to show more interest in the progress of the area.

They noted that self-help was crucial to the development of every community, adding, “it is only when we take the initiative to improve our living conditions ourselves that we could hope to receive support from either the government or the district assembly”.
