Community gets new Mosque

Atonkor-Buem (V/R), July 11, GNA – A new mosque, financed by Al Farqaan Society, a Moslem voluntary organization in Saudi Arabia, was commissioned at Atonkor-Buem in the Jasikan district last weekend. In his remarks at the commissioning, Mr Isaka Burima, chairman of the Atonkor Buem Union, commended the donors for providing the zongo community with the facility.

The new mosque could house 150 people and replaces an old one, which could hardly accommodate 15 people. Mr Burima called on all well-to-do Moslems to reach out to the needy in the society.

He entreated Moslems to be law abiding and work to disabuse the notion that they were troublemakers whose stock in trade was hooliganism, adding that these were contrary to the teachings of the Quran.

Mr Burima appealed to Moslem youths not to imitate foreign cultures wrongly because they were detrimental to the Islamic religion. He urged parents to give equal attention to Arabic and secular education so that their children would be able to cope with modern society.
