Community Centre for Gomoa Assin Brofoyedru

Gomoa Assin Brofoyedru, Sept 2, GNA- The Chiefs and the People of Gomoa Assin Brofoyedru in the Central Region, have initiated a 250 million cedi community centre and a palace.

Nana Apaade Abam, Queen Mother of the town announced this at a durbar to climax the annual Akwambo Festival of the chiefs and the people at the weekend.

She noted that the project was being financed through development levies of 20,000 male and 10,000 cedis female for non-residents while citizens at home are paying 10,000 and 5,000 cedis. Nana Abam appealed to the citizens to pay their contributions promptly to enable the Project Implementation Committee to execute it on scheduled.

The Queen Mother said there was the need for citizens to come home and help because the only school in the town built in 1940s had not seen any renovation, adding that nobody would come and develop the town for them.

She appealed to the Gomoa District Assembly to come to the aid of the people to construct a new school block and to rehabilitate the road linking the Cape Coast truck road to the town to enable farmers to send their produce to the marketing centres.

Nana Abam called on the parents to send their children to school especially the girl-child and endeavour to provide them with their basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing. She called on the youth to desist from premarital sex to avoid early pregnancy and HIV/AIDS pandemic.
