Community bags 14 million cedis at fund-raising durbar

Feyiase (Ash.) March 30, GNA-The chiefs and people of Feyiase in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district on Sunday realised 14 million cedis at a fund-raising durbar held in aid of the construction of an ultra-modern Community Centre.

They have so far spent about one billion cedis on the project, which has facilities for guest rooms, conference hall, computer centre, a post office and a cafeteria.

Mr Yaw Barimah, the Unit Committee Chairman, said they would need a total of over four billion cedis to complete the project.

He pointed out that apart from periodic fund-raising activities, the community has imposed special development levies on the people to finance it.

Residents pay 20,000 cedis a man and 15,000 cedis a woman while non-resident males and females contribute 40,000 cedis and 30,000 cedis respectively.

He said they were in addition, getting support from the sale of building plots.

Nana Osei Kuffour II, chief of the town, asked the people to pay their levies promptly to enable the project to be completed on time.
