Communities threaten not to vote

Suhum, Feb. 2, GNA – Five communities in the Ayensuano Constituency in the Suhum/Kraboa/Coaltar District, have appealed to the government to ensure that the Coaltar-Owuram road is tarred before the elections. The communities are Coaltar, Kofi Pare, Dokrochiwa, Krabokese and Owuram.

This was contain in a petition to the Eastern Regional Minister with copies to the District Chief Executive and the MP for Ayensuano signed by Mr S.B. Nyere, Mr Sampson Osae and Mr Emmanuel Owusu, Unit Committee Chairman, Secretary and Organiser respectively.

They claimed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government constructed six kilometres from Adoagyeri to Marfokrom.

According to them, during the 2000 electioneering campaign President Kufour promised to construct the remaining 15 kilometres from Marfokrom to Owuram.

The petition noted that the NPP Government awarded the road on contract to one Owusu, a contractor from Suhum who had abandoned the shoddy work he was doing and parked his equipment away half way through the job.
