Communities in Ejisu-Juaben District to benefit from water project

Ejisu (Ash), Aug.30, GNA – Three communities in the Ejisu-Juaben district of Ashanti, are to benefit from the Small Water System Project under the Town Four Water Project.

The project being jointly undertaken by the Government and the European Union (EU) is estimated at about Eight billion cedis for Kwaso, Onwe and Kwamo and the assembly had already paid its counter-part funding of 600 million cedis.

This was announced by Mr Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, District Chief Executive at an emergency meeting of the assembly to approve its supplementary budget at Ejisu.

Mr Afrifa said 1.7 billion cedis out of the 7.2 billion cedis allocated to the district from District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for this year, would be used for on-going projects. He said the assembly would in addition spend about 2.3 billion cedis on new projects in education, health, water and sanitation sectors.

Mr Afrifa said the assembly would spend about 1.9 billion cedis on other commitments such as payment of counterpart funding, rehabilitation of town roads, waste management, support for institutions, disaster management, installation and maintenance of equipment and maintenance of office vehicles.
