Communities around Winneba appeal for pipe-borne water

A number of communities around Winneba, who were covered by an original plan for the supply of pipe-borne water under the New Winneba Water Supply Programme, have petitioned the government to ensure that the system is extended to their areas.

A spokesman of the affected communities, Mr Robert K. Ghunney, made the appeal when they met the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Mr Mike Allen Hammah at Winneba on Friday.

Mr Ghunney regretted that in spite of the initial programme to include the affected areas, nothing had been done to extend the facility to them.

Mr Hammah assured them that their petition would be forwarded to the appropriate quarters for consideration. Some of the communities have already taken steps to prepare drawings for the proposed project.

Meanwhile, the people living in towns around the Salt Industry at Winneba, have also appealed to the firms implementing the project to rehabilitate the road network in and around Nsuakyir near Winneba.
