Communication Centre operators threaten demonstration

Nsawam, Aug 9, GNA – More than 60 communication centre operators in the Akwapim South District have threatened to embark on a peaceful demonstration to press their demand for better services from Ghana Telecom.

At a meeting of the Private Communication Operators Association at Nsawam on Friday, they gave Ghana Telecom two weeks to rectify the problems.

The Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Mustapha, told the Ghana News Agency that all lines and links to and from Nsawam and surrounding areas had been down for over two months.

He said Ghana Telecom had also failed to send bills to the operators adding that, the accumulation of bills through no fault of the operators could lead to tension between members of the Association and Ghana Telecom in future.

Most of the lines are faulty and phone calls to Accra have to be channelled through Koforidua, Alhaji Mustapha said.
