Cape Coast, Sept. 12, GNA – Nana Ato Arthur, Central Regional Minister on Tuesday stressed the need for Britain and Ghana to strengthen their long-standing relationship for their mutual benefit. Nana Arthur made the call when a seven-member team from the United Kingdom branch of the Commonwealth Parliament Association (CPA) led by Mr Lord Steel of the House of Lords currently on a five-day visit to the country paid a courtesy call on him at the residency. He appealed to the delegation to promote the economic and tourists potentials in the region to British’s investors to revamp some of the factories that had been abandoned.
They were Saltpond Ceramics, Komenda Sugar Factory and Pomadze Poultry Farm.
Nana Arthur briefing the delegation said Cape Coast was formerly the seat of Government of the British Colony in the Gold Coast, cradle of education in the countr y and tourist attractions including Castles and Kakum National Park.
The delegation accompanied by Mr Felix Owusu Adjepong, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader, also called on Osabariama Kwesi Atta II Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area. They also visited the dungeons and office of “Global Mamas” a local NGO that produces batik, tie and dye for export, being assisted by the British High Commission in Ghana to export their products to Britain.
