Committee to investigate abuses in Govt Secretarial Schools

Accra Nov.12, GNA-A three-member committee has been set up to investigate abuses and mal-administration in Government Secretarial Schools in Ghana.

The Committee would examine the processes for procurement of goods and services at the schools located at Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Koforidua, Sekondi-Takoradi and Ho to determine the level of transparency and value for money in the processes.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday and signed by Mr Godfried Yormessor, Public Relations Officer at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service said Dr Alex Glover-Quartey, Head of the Civil Service inaugurated the Committee.

It said the Committee was also mandated to evaluate the equipment and materials used by each school and to ascertain whether the proper procedure for admissions and conduct of examinations were being adhered to.

The statement said, the committee was also required to make recommendations on its findings and to make proposals on how to forestall the recurrence of such acts.

The committee, under the chairmanship of Mr. Robertson Allotey, a Director at the Office of the Head of Civil Service, is expected to complete its work and submit a report to the Head of Civil Service within a month.
