The Acting Minister for Defence, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has presented the official report on the August 6 helicopter crash to President John Mahama during a meeting of the National Security Council on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The report, compiled by a special investigative committee chaired by Dr. Forson, outlines the causes of the fatal crash and offers recommendations aimed at preventing similar tragedies in the future.
According to government sources, the full report will be released to the public on Tuesday.
The helicopter went down in a forested area of the Ashanti Region while en route to a mining community for an official event connected to the fight against illegal mining. All eight occupants, including five passengers and three crew members, lost their lives in the crash.
Among the victims were the Minister for Defence, the Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, and several senior government and military officials.
The nation observed three days of mourning, culminating in a state funeral to honour the deceased. Following the tragedy, authorities recovered the flight recorders to aid the investigation, the findings of which have now been submitted to the National Security Council for consideration.
