Committee formed to resolve Nakpanduri/Kpemali clashes

A joint security committee comprising the East Mamprusi District and the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District Assemblies has been put in place to resolve the impasse between some Konkombas and Bimobas in Kpemali in the Northern Region.

The committee’s responsibility is to identify the root cause of the clashes between the two feuding factions and to make the necessary recommendations towards finding a lasting solution to the problem.

It will be recalled that some Konkombas and Bimobas on Ghana’s 56th Independence Anniversary day exchanged sporadic gun firing in Kpemali over what has been recognised as land dispute.

Three persons were reported dead while several properties were torched.

Accounting on the situation there, the Assemblyman for Nakpanduri central electoral area said, “Apart from the police CID Boss who called me to find out about the number of burnt houses, I haven’t heard anything from NADMO”.

According to him, some of the displaced persons fled to neighbouring Togo and have since not returned home.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Bunkpurugu constituency, Hon. Solomon Boa has been moving from community to community pleading with his people to co-exist peacefully.
