Committee asked to be more pro-active

Goaso (B/A), Dec. 23, GNA – The Asunafo District Reconstituted Consultative Committee on Civic Education has held its maiden meeting at Goaso with a call on members to assume a more pro-active stance towards next year’s elections.

The committee, which is made up of personnel from 27 allied agencies has also set up sub-committees tasked with specific duties on civic and public education in the district.

The Reconstituted body is aimed at coming out with a comprehensive strategy that would prepare the electorate towards an effective and violent-free voting process in the 2004 elections.

It will also educate the people, especially the youth on the need for political tolerance and the role in enhancing the country’s infant democracy.

The committee has Mr Owusu Kondor, an assistant director of education at the Asunafo District office as chairman.
