Commercial drivers convicted for traffic offences

Three commercial drivers, arrested for breach of road traffic regulations, were on Friday convicted by a Kumasi circuit court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel Amo-Yartey.

Yaw Marfo, Emmanuel Sackey and David Acheampong were each sentenced to a fine of Ghc600.00.

They would serve six months in prison should they fail to pay the fine.

They had pleaded guilty to charges of causing danger to other road users and picking passengers at unauthorised places.

Police Chief Inspector Sylvanus D’Almeida told the court that they were arrested by police officers at the Sofoline Interchange during a routine road check on November 29.
