Come home with positive intentions – Atutiga

Chiana(UER, April 19, GNA – Mr Albert Atutiga, Proprietor of Tamale Girls International School Complex has advised citizens visiting their hometown for festive occasions to return with positive intentions that would help develop their communities.

“It is when you come home with positive intentions that you can commit yourselves towards the development of your communities to ensure improvement in the lives of the people,” he said. Mr Atutiga gave the advice on Easter Monday when addressing the First Annual Kassena West Youth Homecoming at Chiana in the Kassena/Nankana District.

The homecoming was to enable the citizens fraternise and mobilize resources towards the educational needs of Chiana, Katiu, Kayoro and Nakong communities.

It also provided a forum for the youth to come together and solicit support from the Government for development. Mr Atutiga who hails from Kayoro, one of the communities in Kassena West, observed that many people of northern origin often failed to disclose their identity, which was not good for nation building. He said: “We were all born and raised in our communities with our indigenous people and we should therefore not let formal education bridge the gap between us and our people.” Mr Atutiga commended the youth of Kassena West for instituting the homecoming programme and advised them to form development associations to plan towards meeting the needs of the communities. Mr Jonas Bugase, President of Kassena West Youth Association, called on opinion leaders, the affluence within the community to visit home regularly and help in the development of the area. He said the area had lagged behind in education and other infrastructure development and appealed to the Kassena/Nankana District Assembly to ensure a balanced development in all the communities. 19 April 06
