Collaborate with Chief Executives – Minister urges Assembly

Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 24, GNA – Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has appealed to traditional authorities and Assembly Members to collaborate with Municipal and District Chief Executives in mobilizing the people to initiate development projects.

He was addressing the chiefs and people of Nkoranza South District as part of a tour of the district.

Mr Nyamekye Marfo expressed concern about the impasse between some Assembly Members in Nkoranza North District and the District Chief Executive, Mr Kwadwo Adjei-Dwomor.

He said a government investigation committee set up to study allegations levelled against the DCE had exonerated him and appealed to the Assembly Members to forget about what had happened and join hands to develop the district.

Mr Nyamekye-Marfo explained that his tour of the districts was aimed at interacting with the people to hear their views and observations about the performance of the government.

He said the government would help in addressing the concerns of the people to maintain the trust and confidence reposed in the party in the 2008 general election.

Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo inspected some on-going development projects in the district and these included school blocks at Nsugum, Amponsakrom, Nkwabeng and Nyame-Bekyere as well as the Police station, lorry station and tiles projects at Nkoranza.

Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom IV, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Are, later joined the regional minister to cut the sod for the construction of girls’ and boys’ dormitory blocks for Nkoranza Technical Institute.

He appealed to the government to build a permanent bridge over River Tanfi at Tanfiano on the Nkoranza-Kintampo highway and

appealed to the government to elevate the Nkoranza South District into a municipality.

Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, said the Assembly would not relent in efforts at initiating development programmes to help the people improve their living standards.
