COGNAI to meet in Vicenza

The Council of Ghana Nationals Association in Italy (COGNAI) will hold its General Assembly on Saturday, December 11, in the Italian city Vicenza. A statement issued by the General Secretary of the Council, Gilbert Abasimi, said delegates from the 24-member Associations are expected to attend which will be the 3rd and final meeting for the year.

The President of the Council, Omari Somuah, will address participants in his End-of-Year speech and issues to be discussed will include enlargement of the Executive Body to embrace tribal and religious groups, call for bids for presentation of projects for migrant integration and an Italian National and EU proposals.

According to the General Secretary, the meeting will also review activities of the Ghana Embassy in Rome on its ‘Consular Services at door steps of Ghanaians in Italy’, the Council’s participation in International programmes (EU Belgium programme) and the on-going Ghana Constitution Review. It will also look at programmes for the year 2011, among them Ghana’s Independent celebration in March – scheduled to come on in the city Novara – Training and Information programmes, Quiz, Games and Promotion of Ghanaians culture in Italy. Other important matters also to be discussed will be the Miss Ghana in Italy event where involvement of Italian promoters will be on the table.
