Cocobod donates to Heart Foundation

Accra, Aug. 7, GNA – Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod) on Tuesday donated a cheque for GH(10,000 (one hundred million cedis) to the Ghana Heart Foundation, saying the donation was in fulfillment of its social responsibility.

Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II, Chairman of Cocobod, who presented the cheque in Accra, said the Board was committed to health needs of Ghanaians and would contribute its quota to support individuals suffering from ailments.

“To save a heart is to save a life, a family, a community and a nation,” he said adding that the evidence of its health care policy was the establishment of Cocoa Clinics in various parts of the country to cater for cocoa farmers and other members of the public. Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng said the Board had made donations to various health facilities and reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting the health sector.

Dr Martin Tamatey, Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, said heart surgery was expensive and called on society to emulate the gesture exhibited by the Board.
