Cocoa Purchasing Clerks demand release of bonus funds

Brakwa (C/R), Dec. 20, GNA – Cocoa Purchasing clerks for OLAM company at Breman Asikuma Agona Swedu District, have decided to petition the authorities to release funds allocated for the payment of 2005/2006 cocoa season bonus to farmers.

Following the announcement made by the government that funds for the payment of bonus have been released, OLAM Company have up to date not released the funds to the Purchasing Clerks.

At an emergency meting on Wednesday at Brakwa, the Secretariat, led by the Assemblyman, Mr Samuel Gyemiani, the OLAM Company have released funds for 50 percent of the tonnage purchased during the season under review as bonus for payment while farmers are demanding full payment of bonus due. All efforts for OLAM management, for short payment have failed.
