Cocoa farmers dissatisfied with collection of forms

Nyinahin, (Ash), Nov. 10, GNA – Cocoa farmers in the Atwima District of Ashanti have expressed dissatisfaction at the refusal of the Ghana cocoa Board (COCOBOD) to designate a scholarship forms collection point in the district this year.

A statement issued at Nyinahin and signed by Opanin Yaw Bronyah, the Atwima District Chief Farmer at the weekend, noted that even though Nkawie was listed as a collection point for the forms last year, the situation had changed this year since Nkawie’s name was completely deleted from the collection points for this year.

It said Nyinahin, which was also a cocoa district had never been listed as a collection point over the years.

The statement said the nearest point for the collection of the forms for their wards this year was either at Bibiani in the Western region or Mankranso in the Ahafo-Ano South District, which were several kilometres away.

It said a lot of cocoa farmers in the district were likely to lose their chances of getting the forms for processing for their wards if the anomaly was not rectified immediately.

Mr. Maxwell Osei Boadu, Nyinahin District Officer of the Quality Control Division of COCOBOD, confirmed the concern of the farmers but said his outfit had issued letters to all assembly members and had beaten gong-gong to inform members to collect the forms for processing.
