Cociane Case: CID Boss met with Ms Asibi

Accra, Aug. 1, GNA – Mr David Asante-Apeatu, Director-General of the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), on Tuesday told the Georgina Woode Committee investigating an alleged bribery involving the Police that he had met Ms Grace Asibi, the woman at the centre of the case only once.

Mr Asante-Apeatu said he would not have recognized Ms Asibi if they had met anywhere else because she was brought to his office only once. Testifying before the Committee Mr Asante-Apeatu said although he had information about the involvement of a woman in the cocaine deal right from the first tip-off he was not sure, who the Woman was until Mr Tabiri brought her to his office.

Mr Asante-Apeatu said he had information that the Woman’s life was under threat and that she was being branded as an informant.

=93I promised her Police protection when she appeared before me. But after she left I asked the Investigator to arrest her, detain her and go and search her place, just to feign to those threatening her that she was also a suspect;” he said.

Mr Asante-Apeatu said after that incident he had not had any close contact with Ms Asibi
