Cocaine Shortage Hits Tema

Sites One and Two within Community One of the Tema municipality which is the hub of cocaine supply for local consumption is in short supply of the stuff, investigation by the Enquirer newspaper has revealed. The situation is so because all the men behind the supply have gone into hiding following the arrest of some key figures who were linked with the lost of cocaine at the Tema port recently.

Almost all the ‘Ghettos’ within these two areas where users could easily lay hands on the stuff has been closed down and it is now only the drug addicts popularly called ‘junkies’ who are hovering around the areas in search of the drugs. The sites one and two over the years have been the main place where drug peddlers all over the country gather their stock for sale.

The two areas could boast of over ten ‘ghettos’ which are all well patronized by drug users and peddlers. The investigation revealed that some pushers travel all the way from Kumasi and Takoradi to procure cocaine and heroine for onward sales to users because it is believed that stuff from these areas are the best. A source during the investigation disclosed that two people namely “The Last Don” and “Coma Rasta” are the main suppliers of drugs in the two areas.

The source has it that the two display affluence within the municipality and are often harassing members of the public. According to the source, anybody who frowns upon the activities of these drug suppliers was likely to incur their wrath. This they do by organizing thugs to vandalise that person’s shop or raid his or her home and make it look as if armed robbers had stormed the residence.

Shop owners in those two areas have never been spared by these drug peddlers and users as they are always faced with harassment or stealing. The problem with the users is that they are always in need of money to purchase the drugs and they therefore steal anything they lay hands on.
