Coca-Cola foundation building school at Samsam Odumase

The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO), is financing the construction of a block of six classrooms, office and a store for the Samsam Odumase Local Authority Primary School at a cost of 230 million cedis.

Mr Samuel Nii Aryetey Attoh, Ga District Chief Executive in an address at the sod-cutting ceremony at Samsam Odumase, near Amasaman, in the Greater Accra Region, said even though, District Assmebly had been trying to provide basic infrastructure for deprived communities it was cash strapped, therefore, welcomed such assistance.

He appealed to the parents to ensure that their children attended school.

He urged the Circuit Supervisor, Parent-Teacher Association and the School Management to co-operate to ensure the early completion of the project.

Mr Robert Ahomka Lindsay, Vice President (Communications) of the Coca Cola African Foundation, called on the people to support the organisation by offering communal labour to complete the project on schedule.

Mr Ernest Atukwei Armah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ga South donated two million cedis from his share of the district Assembly Common Fund towards the project.

Mr Ofori Awuah, a Deputy Director of Ghana Education Service, who deputized for Mr Baah Wiredu, Minister Education, Youth and Sport, cut the sod to signify the commencement of work.

Nii Kwame Pebi II, Chief of the town, who provided the land, appealed to Coca-Cola Foundation to provide portable water and extend electricity to the area.
