A former depot clerk at the Coca Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited, Mr James Adongo Akologo, has appealed to the government and human rights activists to assist him to claim his redundancy benefit from the company.
Mr Akologo, who worked at the Sunyani main branch of the company for 14 years, told newsmen that the company forced him to resign instead of being declared redundant when it close down the Sunyani office in 2010.
“I complied thinking that would not affect any benefits as a result of the company’s decision to close down the Sunyani depot after working from 1995 to 2010”, he said.
Mr Akologo said the company gave him 800 crates of coca cola as part of his benefits but recently wrote to him demanding that he pays GHC13, 520 being the cost of the product, claiming it was given to him on credit.
He said he had written officially to the company on the matter but it had insisted he should pay the money or be prosecuted.
Mr. Akologo appealed to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and all relevant human rights organisations to intervene for the company to pay his benefits to him.
