Coalition of NGOs in Health request for funds

Accra, April 1, GNA – The Coalition of NGOs in Health, an umbrella organisation of NGOs working in the health sector, has appealed to the Ministry of Health for financial assistance to intensify its house-to-house cholera campaign.

A statement signed by Mr Eric Kwabena Agbozo, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Coalition in Accra on Friday, said part of the five million Ghana cedis released by the government for the campaign should be allocated to them.

It said Ghana Health Service (GHS) Directorate in the Greater Accra Region had tasked the Coalition to support the control of the outbreak of the cholera epidemic through vigorous educational campaign in all the six Sub-Metropolitan Areas and five other adjoining districts.

The statement said due to the inability of the Coalition to mobilise funds for members to undertake its core mandate of reducing deaths through public education, individual members undertake a limited house-to-house educational campaign on their own. The Coalition has a membership of 400 individual NGOs with 150 in the Greater Accra Region and 250 in the other nine Regions.
