Coalition of Muslims Organisations inaugurate taskforce

Sunyani (B/A) May 16, GNA- Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister at the weekend, urged Muslims to demonstrate unity of purpose to ensure the growth and development of Islam. He spoke against the sectarian conflicts among Muslims and called on them to tolerate the views of one another to enhance the development of their communities.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Regional Task force of the Coalition of Muslim Organizations, Ghana, in Sunyani, the Deputy Regional Minister debunked the perception that Islam “is a religion of violence”.

“There is the need for Muslim scholars to help brilliant but needy students in their various communities to inculcate a sense of civility in the children to love each other for the growth of Islam,” he said. Sheikh Ishaak Ibrahim Nuamah, second Vice President of the Coalition announced plans to establish schools throughout the country to improve the standard of education in the zongo communities. Giving a brief history of the Coalition, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Alhassan, General Secretary, said the body was established in 1998 with the aim of uniting Muslims to facilitate the development and growth of Islam.
