Co-ordinator settles impasse

Techiman (B/A), June 21, GNA – Alhaji Hafiz Adam, Techiman Municipal Coordinating Director, has called for effective management of conflicts to ensure peaceful co-existence for national development. He stressed that in any society, there are bound to be conflicts and the best way to stem it is for all parties to accept to compromise and make concessions.

Alhaji Adam made the observation when he amicably settled an impasse between teaching and non-teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES), on the payment of incentive packages to teachers in five second-cycle schools in the Techiman Municipality.

The five schools are Akumfi Ameyaw Senior High, Techiman Senior High, Tuobodom Senior High, Buoyem Senior High and Guakro-Effah Senior High. Also at the meeting were officials of the GES.

Alhaji Adam said peace does not necessarily mean the absence of tension but the presence of justice, and quoted a Chinese proverb, which says 93If we do not fight one another we do not know ourselves well”.

He urged both teaching and non-teaching staff to acknowledge the important complementary role they could play towards the upbringing of children towards improving the standard of education in the municipality.

He said the Municipal Assembly would continue to provide infrastructure in the educational sector in a bid to help raise the fallen standards of education in the municipality.
