Accra, Feb. 1, GNA – The Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare, has asked the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) to be patient while their leadership negotiated with the Ministry and the Grievances and Complaints Committee, to address their complaints. The CLOGSAG wants outstanding issues regarding their migration onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) to be addressed. These were contained in a statement issued by Nana Opoku Acheampong, Communications Specialist at the Ministry, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Wednesday. It said the Ministry throughout the migration process had demonstrated its willingness to dialogue to ensure that issues that would impede the smooth implementation of the SSSS were addressed. The statement said the Ministry’s attention had been drawn to concerns raised by the National Executive Committee on behalf of members of CLOGSAG with regard to their migration onto the SSSS. It said the issues included the inability of Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to migrate certain categories of their members onto the SSSS; the accounting and internal audit staff within the Civil and Local Government Services, as well as the Non-Formal Division of the Ministry of Education and Lands Commission, and some allowances being claimed was being reviewed. The statement said the Accounting and Audit classes under reference were migrated onto the SSSS in December 2011, per letter FWSC/D/SCR.3/Vol.5 dated 9th December 2011. “The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has already written to the Accountant-General’s Department giving approval for the payment of the two classes on the SSSS”. The statement noted that staff of all the four divisions of the Lands Commission, Survey and Mapping Division; Land Registration Division; Land Valuation Division; and Public and Vested Lands Management Division, were migrated onto the SSSS in November, 2011 as per FWSC’s letter number FWSC/D/SCR.3/Vol.5/25 dated 11th November, 2011 addressed to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
