Kumasi, June 2, GNA- A clergyman has suggested to the Department of Social Welfare to ensure a review of child adoption procedure to make it easier for individuals and organisations to adopt children from children homes.
Primate S. K. Adofo, Spiritual Head of the Brotherhood Church, said, this after the Church presented food items valued about 10 million cedis to inmates of the Kumasi Children’s Home on Wednesday, as part of the religious body’s 31st Anniversary celebrations. The items included sugar, rice, gari and edible oil milk and used clothing and shoes.
Primate Adofo observed that the current procedure for adoption children was very cumbersome thereby, making it very difficult for more people to adopt and maintain children from orphanages and children’s homes.
He said the Church would regularly visit inmates to give them hope and instil in them good morals.
Madam Victoria Asugnya, Supervisor of the Home, who received the items, was full of praise for the Brotherhood Church for demonstrating in practical terms their concern for the upkeep of the children. She appealed to other Churches to contribute towards the upkeep of inmates of children homes.
