Kumasi, April 25, GNA – A pastor has appealed to the rich not to be content with giving out only alms but also consider setting up businesses to create employment for the youth. Bishop J.N.K. Boateng, Leader of the Gospel Revival Church, said this way ”their wealth and resources would help many people have jobs and permanently relieve them of their poverty and dependence on charity.”
Bishop Boateng gave the advice at the close of a two-day prayer and fasting session held by the church at Sofo line in Kumasi on Sunday. He said even though assisting the poor and needy with alms was commendable, ”that only brings temporary relief to the receiver. It will be better to provide the poor and needy a means of earning their own living and on a permanent basis.”
Bishop Boateng appealed to churches to demonstrate their concern for the unemployed youth in the country, especially in their churches, and set up schemes that could provide them with employable skills. He mentioned the establishment of modern farm institutes where the youth of the church could be taught modern farming skills as well as vocational institutes.
