Clergyman advises leaders to do away with arrogance and pride

Hemang (Ash), Sept 25, GNA – A Catholic priest has advised those in leadership positions to do away with arrogance and pride and strive to be humble.

Rev Fr Mike Owusu, Assistant Parish Priest of the St. Joseph Catholic Parish at Mamponteng, said it was crucial for leaders to identify with the attributes of humility and honesty since “these are the only values that can help sustain them in office”. Rev Fr Owusu gave the advice at a Thanksgiving Service held at the St Michael’s Catholic Church at Hemang on Sunday. ”Leadership is ordained by God and should therefore be respected by all.”

”Even though voting is done by the electorate, their choice is always influenced by God and as such when someone is chosen as a leader he should be readily accepted by the rank and file and given the needed support”.

Rev Fr Owusu cautioned those in authority against using their busy schedules and high offices as excuses for not finding time to worship God.

He said just as they sought God’s intervention in seeking the high office, so should they continue to draw nearer to Him after occupying such an office.

Odeneho Appiah, the new NPP Chairman for the Kwabre-West Constituency, pledged to work in close collaboration with all people irrespective of their political backgrounds and the communities from which they hail.
