Clergy urged to be fearless and humble

Kumasi, Jan 3, GNA – Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwah, the Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has urged ministers of the gospel to be fearless and humble in the discharge of their duties. He noted that as men of God they should let their light shine and lead exemplary lives worthy of emulation.

Prof Adarkwah gave the advice at the opening of a five-day Methodist Church of Ghana Annual Ministers Retreat and Fellowship of the Kingdom at the KNUST in Kumasi on Wednesday. The retreat being attended by 750 delegates from all over the country is under the theme, 93Witnessing in the Power of the Holy Spirit”. He said it was important for the Reverend Ministers to gather and pray for God’s divine intervention especially in this New Year. Prof Adarkwah said prayer afforded Christ the opportunity to receive directives and strength and hoped the retreat would spiritually equip them to face the challenges ahead.

The Vice-Chancellor said living a Christian life was not easy and therefore challenged them to lead upright lives as society looked up to them as agents of change. He expressed his happiness about the cordial relationship existing between the university and the church and hoped that it would be strengthened for the development of the university in the years ahead. Most Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, said the occasion would be used for fasting and praying to God to help minimise the problems facing the country and the world as a whole. He said the period would also be used to take stock of their activities and adopt effective and pragmatic strategies to improve on their performances.
