Accra, July 4, GNA – Mr Robert Hinson, a Lecturer at the University of Ghana’s Business School, on Monday called on the Clergy to separate their religious duties from the administration of their missions. He said, although the church was not a profitable organization, Pastors were obliged to leave the finance of their churches for experts to handle while they concentrated on preaching and praying.
Mr Hinson, who is also a Marketing Strategy Consultant, was speaking at a day’s workshop on Financial Management of Churches organised by the Christian Deliverance Mission (CDM) at Tema.
The workshop was aimed at sensitising Pastors and Church Leaders on how to effectively and efficiently manage and invest church funds. Mr Hinson said money accrued to the churches should not be used for personal emoluments alone, but should also be invested in viable businesses like buying of shares, mutual funds and treasury bills in order to use the returns to support the work of God and to help the needy.
He said if the church needed to invest in any business, the consultation of an expert was important to help in taking the right decisions. 4 July 05
