Clean-up should be part of Ghanaians – Chairman

Kumasi, July 4, GNA – Ghanaians have been advised to make clean-up voluntarism a feature of their lifestyle to ensure clean environment.

Mr Martin Brenya, Chairman of the “Dee Odo Wo No”, an association of second-hand clothe dealers at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi, who made the call, said the government declaration of Golden Age of Business could not be materialised in a filthy environment.

He suggested the institution of an award scheme by district assemblies to reward communities with decent environment to motivate the people to tidy their communities.

Mr Brenya was speaking at the inauguration of the association in Kumasi on Thursday, which coincided with a clean up exercise at Manhyia. He disclosed that the association had set aside five million cedis for the procurement of wheelbarrows and dust bins to help keep the communities tidy and advised the members to unite to realise the aims of the association.
